Louisiana Rehabs
Louisiana is a powerhouse state when it comes to cultural exports. Inseparable from Cajun culture, Louisiana’s contributions include foods like Beignets, Po’Boys, Gumbo, and Jambalaya. New Orleans is arguably the cultural center of the state, and it’s often thought of as the birthplace of jazz. The city allowed African Americans to live together freely and thus enabled their culture to flourish. As history progressed, Louisiana birthed some of the greatest musicians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries; Louis Armstrong and Allen Toussaint are among them. With a reputation for parties and festivals, Louisiana seems to struggle more than most states with substance use. Mardi Gras draws over 1 million people every year, and a large part of the celebration is engaging in heavy drinking. While not the only factor, this kind of behavior contributes to the high rate of binge drinking in the state. Aside from alcohol, Louisiana struggles with overdose deaths due to Meth and Opioids like Fentanyl. If you need any help dealing with issues like these, please reach out to a treatment center.
