About The Refuge, A Healing Place
The Refuge is a licensed 12-step-based treatment facility which provides a variety of treatments for patients. The Refuge examines the body’s nervous system, with a core belief in body and trauma connection in relationship to substance abuse. The Refuge takes unique approaches in healing patients with a personalized treatment based on connecting with patients and providing a safe healing atmosphere. Here, patients unlock the root causes of addiction, co-occurring disorders, and trauma, gain insightful coping methods, and develop meaningful self-awareness that can be used post-recovery.
The Refuge spans over 94 acres of land, in a serene setting, and provides over 60 beds. Over 100 staff members are ready to assist 60 adults. Patients have access to bicycling, meditation trails, high-rope courses and fishing docks.
The Refuge transforms substance abuse, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) into success, joy, and safety. The Refuge has a knowledgeable staff, well trained to accommodate prospective and current patients. Holistic-based treatments, such as yoga and meditation, encourage patients to remain aware of the mind-body connection to the present moment. Equine therapy uses horses to form a connection with patients. Patients can gauge their healing progress by a horse’s response. Hypnotherapy safely permit patients to explore old patterns of thoughts and behaviors which trigger addiction.
Psychodrama therapy centers on delving into issues and concerns through dramatic action and instills emotional and personal growth in patients. Somatic experiencing assists clients in healing trauma like substance abuse and PTSD by triggering intense emotional states at varying speed levels comfortable for the patient’s nervous system. Traditional medically-supervised alcohol, benzodiazepine, opioid, and crack/cocaine detoxes are performed with the support of caring nurses and doctors aiding in a life of wellness and sobriety.
