About WTCR Temple
WTCR Temple is one of ten outpatient opioid treatment programs run by WTCR, a Texas network founded in West Texas in 1986 by Dr. Juan Garcia, and they focus solely on opioid use disorder. They approach opioid addiction as a chronic but treatable medical illness rather than a failure of willpower, recognizing that long-term opioid use changes how the body and nervous system function. Their outpatient services include medication maintenance, counseling, and medically supervised withdrawal. Every WTCR location, including Temple, holds accreditation from The Joint Commission.
Treatment centers on opiate agonist therapy with methadone or buprenorphine (Suboxone), which eases withdrawal and cravings so patients can feel stable enough to work on the rest of their lives. They pair medication with counseling, holding that the two together work far better than either alone, and use therapy to help patients change how they think, cope, and respond to old triggers. Licensed counselors and physicians build a formal written treatment plan with each patient and track progress against it over time. They will support a supervised taper off medication when it makes sense, but they also accept that some people need long-term or even lifelong treatment, so there is no pressure to rush the process.
