About Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center
Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center in Abbeville, Louisiana, is part of a group of six addiction treatment centers across south Louisiana serving adults struggling with drug and alcohol use, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions. They view chemical dependency as a primary, chronic, and progressive disease that affects a person’s mind, body, and spirit, and they believe lasting recovery comes from addressing all three. Their continuum of care runs from medical detox and residential treatment through partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), standard outpatient, and ongoing aftercare.
Detox includes 24-hour nursing care and medication to ease withdrawal, followed by a counselor’s assessment to decide on the right next level of care. Residential treatment moves through structured phases that begin with breaking through denial and taking ownership of the addiction, then turn to examining character defects, building a spiritual foundation, and finally developing a recovery network and discharge plan. Daily life combines communal living and shared responsibilities with individual and group therapy, Twelve-Step education and meetings, sober living skills, and physical activity, and many of the counselors are in recovery themselves. Veterans from any branch can join the Patriot Program, which addresses substance use alongside PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and other co-occurring conditions through individualized plans, group therapy, and holistic therapies.
