About WomanPlace
WomanPlace is a gender-specific residential recovery program in Cambridge, Massachusetts, operated by CASPAR, part of the nonprofit Bay Cove Human Services, which supports people facing substance use disorders, mental illness, and homelessness. The program serves adults 18 and older who have already completed detox, or who are not at risk of withdrawal, and who need a stable place to settle into early recovery. CASPAR’s approach centers on evidence-based care for people dealing with both addiction and homelessness, meeting residents where they are and focusing on long-term recovery.
Residents commit to a structured stay of six to nine months, giving them time to practice early recovery skills in a safe, supportive environment rather than rushing back into old surroundings. The goal is for each person to graduate with a solid recovery network and the practical tools needed to live in sober, permanent housing. Because WomanPlace sits within Bay Cove’s larger system, residents are connected to a wider continuum of care that includes medically monitored detox at Andrew House, methadone treatment with counseling and case management, and enhanced residential programs for people managing co-occurring mental health challenges.
