About Westside Family Healthcare
Westside Family Healthcare is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center with a health center in Dover, part of a network that has served Delaware communities since 1988 and offers medical, dental, and behavioral health care regardless of ability to pay. Their behavioral health team works within regular primary care, so patients can get help for substance use, depression, anxiety, trauma, and everyday stress where they already see their doctor. Care is outpatient and short-term, and when someone needs more intensive treatment, the team refers them to higher levels of care. Free Narcan (naloxone) is available at every location without a prescription or appointment.
Counseling with licensed counselors and social workers typically runs nine to 12 sessions of 30 minutes each, built around self-management goals, and is available in English and Spanish for children, adolescents, and adults. Same-day brief assessments and crisis intervention are offered, and established patients can see psychiatric nurse practitioners for evaluation and medication management coordinated with their primary care provider. Social services case managers help with practical barriers like housing, food, and transportation, and most services can be accessed in person or by telehealth. Fees follow a sliding scale based on income, and staff can help with Medicaid and Marketplace enrollment, along with interpretation services that include American Sign Language.
