About West Sound Treatment Center

West Sound Treatment Center is a nonprofit substance use disorder provider serving the Kitsap Peninsula, with an office in Port Orchard alongside clinics in Bremerton and Poulsbo. For about 40 years, they have offered alcohol and drug treatment through outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, usually as part of a broader continuum of care. They also run transitional recovery houses and bring services into the local jail and courts. Care begins with a comprehensive assessment that determines the right level of treatment and can show whether someone qualifies for financial assistance.

Treatment happens in individual and group sessions, and telehealth over Zoom is available in some situations. Relapse prevention treatment helps clients hold onto the behavior changes they have made. Recovery housing residents receive treatment along with case management, vocational support, life-skills training, and transportation. For people involved with the justice system, they offer in-jail assessments and re-entry support through the New Start Program, an individualized alternative to prosecution through Kitsap County Drug Court, and an eight-hour Alcohol and Drug Information School. A free liaison program also helps people with mental health and substance use needs find housing, harm reduction resources, transportation, and appointments, sign up for Medicaid, and plan for release from jail. They accept Medicaid, private insurance, and private pay.
