About WellSpace Health

WellSpace Health is a non-profit community health system in the greater Sacramento region, and alongside medical, dental, and mental health care they run a substance use disorder treatment program for people with or without a co-occurring mental health condition. Their continuum covers withdrawal management (detox), residential rehabilitation, outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment, and Medication Assisted Treatment, delivered through outpatient, residential, and crisis receiving behavioral health centers. They take a recovery-oriented approach built on hope, personal strengths, and self-determination, and they bring family, caregivers, and other supports into care when appropriate. Patients with Medi-Cal or Medicare are welcome, as are people without insurance.

Detox takes place in a residential setting with medically managed support, while residential rehabilitation follows an evidence-based modified therapeutic community model for people facing both substance use and mental health challenges. Outpatient care includes individual counseling, groups, intensive outpatient, and a perinatal track for women and their children. MAT pairs medication with counseling and behavioral therapies for alcohol, methamphetamine, opioid, and other drug use. For people involved with the justice system, they partner with courts and law enforcement to divert people from incarceration, and their reentry services include pre-release MAT, post-incarceration care, and the Transitions Clinic Network.
