About Wayside House Inc
Wayside House is a nonprofit addiction treatment center in Delray Beach, Florida, serving women 18 and older who are recovering from alcohol and drug use. Two women in recovery founded the program in 1974, and they took in their first residential client the following year in the same small cottage that still anchors the campus. Their approach treats the whole person, recognizing that many women arrive carrying trauma, depression, or eating disorders alongside addiction. They offer residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient care.
Residential stays typically last 60 to 90 days and combine counseling with equine, horticulture, art, and music therapy, embodied recovery groups, yoga, and mindfulness, along with parenting classes and nutrition education. The PHP runs six hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 to 45 days, with care from a psychiatrist, a nurse, and counselors. Women in PHP can either go home each night or stay in supervised apartments, and payment options include self-pay, private insurance, and Medicaid. The eight-week, 24-session IOP focuses on sober coping skills and relapse prevention, and graduates of the residential and IOP programs can join an alumni group with monthly meetings and outings.
