About Way Back Inn Inc
Way Back Inn is a community-supported addiction recovery organization in Maywood, Illinois, serving adults across the Chicago area who are struggling with substance use, gambling disorder, or co-occurring conditions. Their core program is Extended Residential Care, a structured, long-term living environment in homes in Maywood and Oak Park, where stays typically run from about 90 days to a year, and the first 90 days are free for new clients. Graduates can move into recovery homes for continued support as they return to work, school, and family life, and loved ones can attend a free family group and psychoeducation program.
Residents follow a steady daily rhythm of therapy groups, house meetings, employment or volunteer work, shared meals, and chores, with individual and group counseling focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and life skills. Way Back Inn is one of the few long-term residential programs in Illinois accredited to treat gambling disorder, and they pair certified gambling counselors and peer recovery specialists with 12-step groups and aftercare planning, plus evening and Saturday outpatient sessions offered in person or by telehealth statewide. Young adults ages 18 to 24 recovering from opioid or stimulant use may qualify for a grant-funded, no-cost recovery home program built on peer support rather than required counseling. That program offers on-site peer staff around the clock, physician access for medication-assisted recovery, care coordination, and help with job training, GED courses, apprenticeships, and transportation.
