About Volunteers of America OHIN

Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana is a faith-rooted nonprofit human services organization that runs substance use treatment and recovery housing in Indianapolis as part of a wider network of programs across both states. Their behavioral health work covers addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns, offered through residential and outpatient programming. They also provide housing, veterans services, and reentry support. Their approach centers on the belief that recovery is within reach for every person and family, with care adapted to each individual’s history.

In Indianapolis, Fresh Start Recovery Center is a family-focused residential program for pregnant women and mothers of young children, developed in partnership with Humana. Turning Point Recovery Center offers residential substance use treatment for men involved in the criminal justice system. For women who need a stable next step, Legacy House – Grimes provides home-like supportive recovery housing where they can live with their children. Licensed clinicians and other clinical staff use evidence-based methods and are trained in trauma-informed care, which can matter a great deal for people whose substance use is tied to past trauma.
