About Volunteer Behavioral Health

Volunteer Behavioral Health is a nonprofit, CARF-accredited community behavioral health organization with a presence in Franklin, Tennessee, and a network of outpatient centers across more than 50 counties in Middle, Southeast, and Upper Cumberland Tennessee. For over 60 years, they have cared for adults, children, and families facing mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Their same-day access model aims to connect people with services within 24 hours of calling intake. Addiction care spans outpatient counseling, medication management, medication-assisted treatment, intensive outpatient programming, peer support, and medically monitored detox, with residential treatment in development.

Outpatient care begins with an assessment and an individualized plan that can include individual, family, and group counseling, either in person or by phone, and families are encouraged to take part. The intensive outpatient program runs in groups for at least three hours a day, three days a week, and includes aftercare support. The Women’s CHOICES Program serves mothers with group therapy, certified peer support, parenting classes, care management, and transportation, while specialty contracts provide treatment for people involved with probation, parole, or multiple DUIs. Recovery is reinforced through community peer support centers, the FindingMyRecovery online platform with recovery-coach-led chats and meetings, and 24/7 crisis services.
