About Volunteer Behavioral Health

Volunteer Behavioral Health is a nonprofit, CARF-accredited community behavioral health organization, and their Tracy City location is part of a network covering more than 50 counties across middle, southeast, and Upper Cumberland Tennessee. For over 60 years, they have treated adults, children, and families dealing with substance use disorders, mental illness, and co-occurring conditions. A same-day access model aims to connect people with services within 24 hours of calling intake. Their substance use care includes outpatient counseling at every location, medication management, medication-assisted treatment, intensive outpatient programming, and peer support, while medically monitored detox is offered at their Cookeville and Murfreesboro campuses and residential treatment is planned for Cookeville.

Outpatient care starts with an evaluation that shapes an individualized plan, which can include individual, family, or group counseling, care management, and medication. Family members are encouraged to take part, and phone sessions are available. The intensive outpatient program meets in groups for at least three hours a day, three days a week, with aftercare built in. Specialized options include the Women’s CHOICES Program for mothers in Chattanooga and Cookeville, court- and probation-referred treatment for people involved with the justice system, a network of peer support centers, and FindingMyRecovery.org, an online community with recovery chats and therapist contact.
