About Volunteer Behavioral Health
Volunteer Behavioral Health in Hartsville, Tennessee, is part of a nonprofit, CARF-accredited community behavioral health system that has served adults, children, and families across middle, southeast, and Upper Cumberland Tennessee for more than 60 years. They treat substance use disorders, mental illness, and co-occurring conditions, and their same-day access model aims to connect people with services within 24 hours of calling intake. Outpatient counseling is available at every location and by phone. Across the wider network, care also includes intensive outpatient programming, medication management, medication-assisted treatment, peer support, and medically monitored detox at their Cookeville and Murfreesboro campuses.
Outpatient care begins with an assessment that shapes an individualized plan, which may combine individual, group, and family counseling with care management, and family involvement is actively encouraged. Their IOP meets in groups for at least three hours a day, three days a week, with aftercare built in to support people after completion. The Women’s CHOICES Program, offered in Chattanooga and Cookeville, serves mothers through group therapy, certified peer support, parenting classes, drug testing, and transportation to appointments. They also run justice-involved programs for people on probation or with multiple DUIs, regional peer support centers, and FindingMyRecovery.org, an online community with chat rooms and recovery meetings led by recovery coaches.
