Quannacut Inpatient Addiction Services is the hospital-based behavioral health program of Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, part of Stony Brook Medicine, serving Long Island’s North Fork and the wider Suffolk County area. They treat substance use and mental health conditions together, combining medical care, psychology, and evidence-based behavioral therapies within a safe inpatient setting. Levels of care include medically supervised detoxification, inpatient substance use rehabilitation, and inpatient psychiatry, with outpatient services offered through a companion Quannacut program. The program is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by New York State’s Office of Mental Health and Office of Addiction Services and Supports.

In detox, patients receive clinical support and medication management to withdraw safely and comfortably, and assessments are available around the clock through the hospital’s emergency department. The rehabilitation program blends individual and group counseling with education, mindfulness practice, life skills building, and medication management, while medication-assisted treatment is available for opioid and alcohol use disorders as well as co-occurring mental health conditions. Care plans are built by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, substance use counselors, social workers, creative arts therapists, and dietitians, led by a medical director board-certified in addiction medicine. Discharge planning is woven into every program to help patients move smoothly into ongoing care, including outpatient treatment and recovery housing.
