About Tuerk House Inc

Tuerk House is a nonprofit behavioral and community health provider based in Baltimore, Maryland, that began as an addiction treatment program. They expanded into mental health and medical care after seeing how many patients also struggled with conditions like depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, HIV, hepatitis C, and diabetes. Their addiction services span inpatient withdrawal management, several levels of residential care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient, and a methadone and opioid treatment program. They emphasize nonjudgmental care offered regardless of insurance, and walk-ins are their most common way of starting treatment, so people can often be seen right away instead of waiting on a list.

Residential care follows a step-down model, moving from high-intensity treatment with 20 to 40 clinical hours a week to medium- and low-intensity levels focused on life skills, employment, and community reintegration. These programs run in separate houses for men and women across Baltimore and Howard County. Their outpatient mental health clinic provides counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological evaluations for adults and adolescents, with individual, couples, family, and group options covering trauma, grief, anger, mood and psychotic disorders, and family conflict. Medication-assisted treatment pairs behavioral therapy with options such as buprenorphine, Suboxone, Sublocade, naltrexone, and Vivitrol, and an on-site pharmacy and peer recovery specialists round out the support available.
