About Triumph Youth Services

Triumph Youth Services is a residential treatment center in Brigham City, Utah, serving boys ages 12 to 17 from across the country. Founded by Sterling Lyman in 1998 as a program for adjudicated youth, they have grown into a structured, family-oriented program that pairs discipline with compassion and emphasizes accountability and real-world responsibility. They work with teens facing substance abuse, defiance, anger, anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities, academic underachievement, and family conflict. Care includes a short-term Observation and Assessment program to identify each teen’s needs, as well as longer-term residential treatment with schooling through Triumph Academy, their accredited on-site school.

Each student follows a personalized plan that combines individual, group, and family therapy using approaches such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, REBT, EMDR, Functional Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and client-centered therapy, along with the Safe and Sound Protocol, a listening therapy aimed at calming the nervous system. Daily life skills groups based on the Boys Town model cover decision-making, time management, conflict resolution, and money management, while a Positive Peer Culture model helps boys practice leadership and empathy within their community. Teens also train and care for retriever dogs, play competitive rugby, and can join multi-day summer expeditions in Alaska. Staff are trained in Aegis non-violent crisis intervention, and families can explore help with costs through insurance, IEP-related funding, scholarships, or educational loans.
