About Therapeutic Health Services

Therapeutic Health Services (THS) is a Seattle-based nonprofit that has offered addiction and mental health care since 1972, with clinics throughout King and Snohomish Counties, including Seattle, Everett, Bellevue, and Shoreline. They are best known for medication-assisted treatment of opioid use disorder, including addiction to heroin, fentanyl, and prescription painkillers, and they also help people recovering from alcohol and other drug use. Mental health care for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and schizophrenia is available alongside substance use treatment, so co-occurring needs can be addressed in one place. THS is CARF accredited, accepts Medicaid/Apple Health, Medicare, and most private insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale, and new patients can walk in at many locations without a referral.

Care begins with a counselor assessment, after which a THS physician recommends either methadone, dispensed daily on site under medical supervision, or Suboxone, depending on the severity of dependence and the person’s goals. Medication is always paired with individual counseling, group support, case management, and medical monitoring, and plans are adjusted without judgment if setbacks occur. Their Pregnant & Parenting Program supports expectant and parenting mothers with counseling on parenting skills, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and reproductive health, along with access to a public health nurse, WIC, prenatal groups, and family support groups that involve both parents whenever possible. THS also works with the King County Drug Court to help participants break the cycle of substance use and legal trouble.
