Texas Recovery Center is a residential addiction and mental health treatment program on a ranch campus in Scurry, Texas. They treat dependence on alcohol, opioids (including fentanyl and prescription painkillers), methamphetamine and other stimulants, benzodiazepines, and sedatives, as well as polysubstance use, and they screen for co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Their continuum includes medically supervised detox, residential treatment, a long-term residential option, and a partial hospitalization program (PHP) that provides daytime structure while clients return home in the evenings. Detox usually lasts three to seven days, with round-the-clock nursing, FDA-approved withdrawal medications when appropriate, and a case manager who helps plan the next level of care.

In residential care, clients follow an individualized plan built on individual and group counseling, drawing on cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, trauma therapy, and relapse prevention. Medication-assisted treatment is available for opioid and alcohol use disorders, and medication management supports co-occurring mental health conditions. The ranch setting allows for equine therapy at on-site stables and wilderness and adventure therapy, including a zipline, while family therapy and family updates (with the client’s permission) help loved ones stay involved. They also run specialized tracks for working professionals, veterans, first responders, LGBTQ+ clients, and men and women in gender-specific programs.
