About Sunrise Centers

Sunrise Centers is a small, state-certified outpatient chemical dependency agency in Burien, just south of Seattle, and they have served the Greater Seattle area for more than thirty years. Much of their work supports people dealing with the legal system after a DUI or another alcohol- or drug-related charge, from the initial evaluation through court-required treatment and Deferred Prosecution programs that can last up to two years. They emphasize fair, accurate assessments, individualized attention, and acting as an advocate for each client, with the goal of addressing the reasons behind substance use rather than just the immediate problem. Their levels of care include intensive outpatient, standard outpatient, and monthly aftercare.

Their treatment curriculum is built around Life Skills CBT, an accountability-focused, court-approved form of cognitive behavioral therapy taught through practical classes, and some classes are available by video. Assessments take place over two visits: the first covers diagnostic paperwork and a urine sample, and the second is a face-to-face interview with a licensed counselor so clients can explain their side of events. Beyond assessments and core treatment, they offer relapse prevention, early intervention, a three-month relapse or outpatient track, Drug/Alcohol Information School, sober support meetings, urinalysis testing, and referrals for domestic violence or anger management programs. They also offer flexible scheduling and financing, including down payment plans, delayed start options, and discounts for paying in full, and they work with clients who hold lawful medical marijuana cards.
