About Stepping Stone Treatment Prog Center

Stepping Stone Treatment Program Center is a state-certified outpatient program in Gaithersburg, Maryland, offering alcohol and drug education, intervention, and treatment, with a strong focus on adults facing DUI or DWI charges. They follow an abstinence-based philosophy that helps clients stop using and recognize their patterns of substance use, and each person’s level of care is set through an individual assessment using DSM-5 criteria and the Addiction Severity Index. Their services span Level 0.5 early intervention, Level 1 outpatient treatment, and Level 2.1 intensive outpatient treatment, with the length of care based on each client’s progress.

Their intensive outpatient program meets three to four times a week for about three hours per session and combines individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, while standard outpatient therapy steps down to one or two sessions weekly for ongoing accountability. For court-ordered clients, they run a state-approved 12-hour DWI/DUI education course over six weeks and a 26-week DWI/DUI outpatient treatment program, along with help with MVA reporting. AA meetings, family support programming, educational groups, and urine and mouth swab drug testing are built into treatment. Classes are offered in person and online, including sessions in Spanish and morning, evening, and weekend options, and they accept most insurance plans, including Medicaid.
