Starr Counseling and Addiction Services is a Missoula, Montana outpatient practice, formerly known as Simply Assessments, that helps people work through alcohol and drug concerns, especially when a DUI or other legal matter is involved. They are led by Jean Starr, a Licensed Addiction Counselor and National Certified Addiction Counselor I, and they run a state-approved ACT program for people completing court requirements after a DUI. Their services include chemical dependency assessments, court-ordered evaluations, and ongoing addiction counseling, and they serve clients throughout Montana.

After an assessment, clients either take the Prime for Life class or are placed in treatment matched to American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. Court-ordered evaluations cover situations such as DUIs, partner or family member assault charges, divorce and parenting plan disputes, and other criminal cases, and they also work with defense attorneys, complete evaluations for people in jail, and testify when needed. Counseling is offered in individual, family, and group formats, with Christian counseling available on request. Sessions draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, S.M.A.R.T. goal setting, trigger identification, coping skills, and relapse prevention planning, while family work focuses on communication, rebuilding trust, and related issues like parenting, depression, and family conflict.
