About SPIRITT Family Services

SPIRITT Family Services is a community nonprofit based in Whittier, California, that has served families across Los Angeles County since 1972, when they began as Project INFO with a focus on youth substance use prevention, family communication, and mental health. Their name stands for Skills for Prevention, Intervention, Recovery, Individual Treatment, and Training, which reflects a continuum running from early prevention through treatment and ongoing recovery support. They work with children, youth, adults, and caregivers facing substance use or mental health challenges. Their approach is trauma-informed, strength-based, and family-centered, and they treat each person as a partner in their own care.

Substance use disorder treatment is offered through their Drug Medi-Cal program, which sits within a Community Behavioral Health division that also provides outpatient mental health care and Wraparound services for families with more complex needs. Alongside clinical care, a Child and Family Well-Being division offers prevention and aftercare, Partnerships for Families, and support for relatives raising children, so a household can get help on several fronts from one agency. Services are CARF-accredited and built to be culturally responsive and accessible in historically underserved communities. Most programs run on weekday business hours with some evening and weekend availability, and enrolled participants can reach their provider for after-hours support.
