About SpectraCare Health Systems
SpectraCare Health Systems is a nonprofit community mental health organization serving Geneva, Houston, Dale, Henry, and Barbour counties in Southeast Alabama, with care for both mental health and substance use concerns. Certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, they involve clients directly in planning their own treatment and aim to meet people where they are. Their services include individual therapy and counseling, 24/7 crisis intervention, community support programs, outpatient medical services, child and adolescent care, and support for people with developmental disabilities.
Getting started runs through their Access to Care call center, where specialists screen callers, schedule first appointments, handle referrals from hospitals and physicians, and verify insurance. For substance use treatment, they give admission priority to pregnant individuals, people who inject drugs, women with dependent children, and people living with HIV. In Houston County, they run a Court Referral Program for people facing drug- or alcohol-related charges, which offers evaluations, treatment referrals, monitoring, drug screening, and evening or Saturday classes in psychoeducation, anger management, and theft alternatives, along with mobile crisis teams that respond in homes and communities. Their prevention staff also teach Narcan and suicide prevention, Mental Health First Aid, and alcohol and drug education throughout the region.
