About Southwest Behavioral Health Services

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services is a nonprofit community behavioral health provider serving Mesa and communities across Arizona, with roots going back to 1969. Their approach centers on integrated care, coordinating primary care, mental health, and substance use treatment so that the physical health problems that often accompany addiction and mental illness are addressed alongside them. Their services include outpatient mental health and psychiatric care, addiction treatment, intensive inpatient care for people in crisis, residential and supported housing, and prevention and school-based counseling. Selected programs hold CARF accreditation.

For opioid use disorder, they run four opioid treatment clinics in Arizona that provide methadone and Suboxone along with individual and group counseling, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management. These clinics also offer practical support, such as case management, job assistance, and housing assistance, to help with the stability that recovery depends on. DUI education and court-ordered domestic violence education are available too, with bilingual and gender-specific options. Beyond addiction care, they provide services across the lifespan for people with autism spectrum disorder and train psychologists through an APA-accredited doctoral internship program.
