About Southern Iowa Economic Dev Association
Sieda Community Action, formally the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association, is a private nonprofit community action agency serving Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, and a wider region of southeastern Iowa. For more than 60 years, they have worked to address the causes and conditions of poverty, and their Behavioral Health and Treatment Services division offers evidence-based care for substance use disorders, mental health concerns, and problem gambling. Because the agency also runs energy assistance, family support, and early childhood programs, people in recovery can be connected to practical help with basic needs alongside their treatment.
Their clinical services include integrated alcohol and drug and mental health treatment, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and mental health counseling. For people involved with the legal system, they run Adult and Family Drug Court programs and a 12-hour OWI class, along with prevention and substance abuse education. Their problem gambling program provides crisis counseling, assessments, and counseling for individuals, couples, and families. Iowa residents can receive services on a sliding fee scale, Medicaid and other insurance are accepted, and the behavioral health services are accredited by CARF International.
