About Southern CA Alcohol and Drug Prog Inc

Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs, Inc. (SCADP) is a nonprofit based in Downey, California, providing residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment to people throughout Los Angeles. Community members founded them in 1972 to create alternatives to prison for people struggling with addiction, and they continue to focus on underserved and disadvantaged populations. Their continuum of care includes outpatient, intensive outpatient, and women-only residential treatment, along with case management, recovery support services, and coordination of methadone-based medication-assisted treatment during a residential stay. As part of the Los Angeles County Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, they offer these services free to Medi-Cal and My Health LA members who meet medical necessity, and they can help people enroll in either program.

Each person starts with a full American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment to determine the right level of care. Outpatient clients, both men and women, take part in education and counseling groups, meet one-on-one with a substance abuse specialist, and complete random drug screening. SCADP works with court-involved clients, accepting referrals tied to probation, parole, Department of Children and Family Services cases, DUI requirements, PC1000, and drug court. They also provide certified American Sign Language interpreters around the clock, so deaf and hard of hearing clients have equal access to treatment.
