About Sound
SOUND Behavioral Health is a nonprofit community behavioral health provider based in Seattle, serving children, youth, adults, and families throughout King County since 1966. They focus on where mental health and substance use overlap, treating addiction alongside conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, and psychosis with a recovery-oriented, whole-person approach built on choice, dignity, and collaboration. Their substance use care is delivered on an outpatient basis, including standard outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) services, with both in-person and telehealth options.
For people struggling with alcohol or opioids, they offer medication-assisted treatment as well as a dedicated opioid recovery program called the SOUND Opiate-Use Recovery Center (SOURCE). Care can include individual, group, and family counseling, psychiatric services, peer support, occupational therapy, and day support programs, and a specialized program serves Deaf clients. Adults can use same-day walk-in clinics, no referral is needed for outpatient substance use treatment, and a photo ID or insurance card isn’t required to get started. Beyond counseling, they also provide crisis response, case management, and supportive housing, which can help people whose recovery is complicated by housing instability or other ongoing challenges.
