About Soroptimist House of Hope Inc

Soroptimist House of Hope is a nonprofit residential recovery program in Desert Hot Springs, California, serving women only since 1981. Many of the women who come to them are dealing with housing instability, legal trouble, domestic violence, or open Child Protective Services cases alongside a substance use disorder. They combine safe housing, peer support, and a structured daily routine with an evidence-based holistic approach to mind, body, and spirit. Treatment also extends to women with co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder.

Residential stays typically run 30 to 90 days and include individual counseling, group sessions on relapse prevention, anger management, and healthy relationships, and guided work through all twelve steps. Clinical care draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-informed care, along with psychiatric evaluation and medication management for dual diagnosis clients. Group work spans psychoeducational, skill-building, CBT, support, and interpersonal process formats, and is supplemented by mindfulness, nutrition counseling, and fitness. Staff also help coordinate medical and dental appointments and connect women to vocational training, financial assistance, family support, and aftercare so they leave with resources in place.
