About Silver Hill Hospital Inc
Silver Hill Hospital is a psychiatric hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut, serving adults and adolescents with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or both. Because addiction so often comes alongside anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder, they treat co-occurring conditions together rather than one at a time. Care spans inpatient, residential, and outpatient levels, and the inpatient unit handles stabilization and detoxification before patients step down. They also run the Steward program, with residential and outpatient tracks for executives and professionals, and offer a financial assistance fund and help with out-of-network insurance benefits.
For adults whose primary diagnosis is a substance use disorder with a co-occurring mental illness, the psychiatrist-led DBT-S program at Scavetta House is a 16-bed residential option with a 30-day minimum stay. Each week, patients have at least four individual sessions with an addiction psychiatrist, a dedicated therapist, and a peer recovery mentor, along with seven or more DBT for Substance Use groups focused on emotion regulation, coping skills, and relapse prevention. Daily process groups, psychodrama, art therapy, spirituality, and meditation or yoga round out the schedule, and patients attend AA, NA, Refuge Recovery, and SMART Recovery meetings, with trauma-focused Cognitive Processing Therapy, neuropsychological testing, and family therapy available for an added fee. Teens ages 13 to 17 can move between inpatient, residential, and intensive outpatient care on the same campus, where DBT anchors treatment and academic support, expressive therapies, and weekly family DBT groups are part of the program.
