Sibus Treatment Services is an outpatient opioid treatment program in Elkridge, Maryland, for people struggling with dependence on heroin, prescription narcotics, and other opiates. They pair FDA-approved medications with counseling, built on the belief that each person’s care should be individualized and that lasting recovery depends on support from the wider community. Their medical and clinical staff stay involved with each patient until that person feels stable enough to take an active role in their own recovery. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted.

Medication-assisted treatment is at the center of their program, using methadone or buprenorphine (including Subutex) to ease physical withdrawal and reduce cravings. Alongside medication, patients take part in both individual and group counseling, which they describe as a holistic, integrative approach. Group sessions give people a place to talk about their past, their hopes, and their goals with others who understand what they are facing. Dosing and medical services begin early in the morning on weekdays and Saturdays, so patients can usually fit treatment around work and other commitments.
