About Seneca Health Services Inc

Seneca Health Services is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic serving Marlinton and the rest of Pocahontas County, along with Greenbrier, Nicholas, and Webster Counties in West Virginia. Since 1976, they have provided mental health and substance use disorder treatment to adults, children, and adolescents, and they also offer crisis services and support for people with intellectual disabilities. They keep offices in small, rural communities so residents can get care close to home, with sessions available in person or by telehealth. Each episode of care begins with an individual assessment, and their network includes four outpatient clinics and two intensive treatment locations, including Crosswinds Center, which provides medically managed withdrawal for adults with private rooms and around-the-clock admissions.

For opioid and alcohol use disorders, their psychiatric providers offer medication-assisted treatment paired with counseling, and because staff are trained in both mental health and addiction, co-occurring conditions can be treated by the same provider. Individual and group therapy focus on accountability, coping skills, and healthy routines, and certified addiction professionals and clinicians trained in TRUST, a model for people who use stimulants, are on staff. Case managers help clients secure health care, stable housing, schooling or job training, and advance directives, while peer recovery coaches with lived experience offer support whatever path a person chooses. A Quick Response Team follows up after non-fatal overdoses to help with treatment placement or, for those not yet ready, to provide harm reduction education and naloxone training, and a sliding fee scale is available for people who qualify.
