SELF Discovery, A Chrysalis Health Empowerment Program, is an outpatient addiction and recovery program in downtown Steubenville, Ohio, run by Chrysalis Health Ohio. They treat drug and alcohol use, often alongside co-occurring mental health concerns, and serve adolescents, adults, and families. Their care is built on evidence-based models that center on the stages of change. Levels of care include standard outpatient treatment, an intensive outpatient program, and a Suboxone clinic for medication-assisted treatment. Chrysalis Health Ohio added services in Steubenville in 2020, including psychiatry, telehealth, and day treatment.
The intensive outpatient program meets three to four days a week during school hours, so parents of school-aged children and people with jobs can keep up with their responsibilities. It combines assessment, education groups, individual, group, and family therapy, case management, urine screening, and a relapse prevention group for people building ongoing recovery. Every client starts with a formal assessment of risk and protective factors, which leads to an individualized plan focused on relapse prevention, life skills, and stronger social support. Specialized offerings include a women’s trauma group, anger management and alcohol awareness groups, and court intervention services for people involved with the legal system.
