The Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SCADD) is a nonprofit treatment agency that has served southeastern Connecticut since 1966, and their Norwich site, Rose City Harbor, is a transitional residence for men. They treat substance use alongside co-occurring mental health conditions, with care shaped by a belief in second chances, a trauma-informed approach, and respect for each person’s culture, identity, and background. Their continuum includes high-intensity residential treatment for men, low-intensity transitional residential programs for men and women, outpatient counseling, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid, prescription drug, and alcohol use is available at every location.

At Rose City Harbor and SCADD’s other transitional houses in New London, residents practice relapse prevention through individual and group counseling, look for work, and gradually rebuild family, educational, and social routines while staff coordinate with primary care, mental health providers, and recovery coaches. For men who need more structure, the Lebanon Pines residential program on a 66-acre campus offers integrated substance use and mental health care with medication management, on-site primary care and Hepatitis C treatment, work therapy, educational services, and thorough discharge planning. Their New London outpatient clinic runs a five-day-a-week IOP along with gender-specific groups, cognitive behavioral skill-building, anger management, and grief and loss work, with both day and evening sessions. Recovery support continues before, during, and after treatment, including help accessing care, spotting early warning signs of relapse, finding safe housing, and connecting with peer support and recovery meetings from a variety of pathways.
