About Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center
Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center is Indiana’s first community mental health center and a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic in Indianapolis, operating as part of the Eskenazi Health system. They follow the Recovery Model, a strengths-based approach that centers families and community, and their care teams make treatment decisions together with patients and loved ones. Their Adult Addiction services offer outpatient treatment for adults 18 and older struggling with drugs, alcohol, or gambling. A sliding fee scale based on income and household size is available, and no one is turned away because they can’t pay.
For people dependent on opioids, the Caring Recovery Opioid Treatment Program pairs medication for opioid use disorder with individual, group, and family counseling, case management, and psychiatric care. Admission requires an assessment by the program’s physician and nursing team, and clients help set their own goals and revisit their progress throughout treatment. The Comprehensive Addictions Treatment program serves people with both substance use and mental health conditions, with addiction psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary team combining therapy and medication. Both programs focus on building a personal recovery plan and preventing a return to use.
