About Samaritas
Samaritas is a faith-based Michigan nonprofit that offers outpatient substance use disorder treatment for adolescents and adults, with Holland among their several office locations across the state. For more than 90 years, their work has been rooted in Christian service, and they now run a broad range of social services alongside their mental health and addiction programs. Their addiction care is built around counseling, medication-assisted treatment, and practical recovery support, with an intensive outpatient option for people who need more structure while still living at home. They also provide mental health services, including psychiatric care, which can help clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, or other conditions alongside substance use.
Treatment combines individual and group counseling, and clinicians rely on motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy as core approaches. Because trauma so often drives substance use, they make trauma support a central part of care for many clients. Their medication-assisted treatment pairs medication with intensive counseling, while case managers help people rebuild basic areas of daily life and recovery coaches offer peer-style support for handling triggers, stress, and free time. One distinctive feature is their SUD outreach program, an in-home model that brings treatment to where clients actually live and face the pressures of staying sober.
