About Riverton Place
Riverton Place is part of Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, a Christian nonprofit ministry that has served people experiencing homelessness in the greater Seattle area since 1932. Their recovery work focuses on people whose drug and alcohol use keeps them stuck in the cycle of homelessness. They take a faith-based, long-term approach that pairs practical support with accountability and Christian teaching. The Mission runs separate recovery programs for men and for women, and the women’s track also addresses the effects of past abuse.
Recovery participants take part in counseling, a relapse prevention curriculum, Bible studies, and educational coursework designed to build a foundation for life after addiction. Once the core program ends, an aftercare phase helps people rebuild daily stability, with transitional housing, regular goal-setting meetings with a case manager, and ongoing mental health counseling as needed. Alumni events, workshops, community meetings, support groups, and involvement with a local church help participants build a sober social network. Education and job placement services are also available, including help earning certifications, learning English, writing a resume, and preparing for interviews.
