Riverside County Latino Commission on Drugs and Alcohol serves the Coachella Valley from Indio, California, offering substance use and mental health services designed with Latino and migrant farmworker communities in mind. Their focus is on making recovery care more accessible through culturally sensitive, bilingual programming for individuals and families. Levels of care include a 10-bed men’s detox home with 24-hour monitoring and medication support, two small Spanish-speaking residential recovery homes (Casa Las Palmas for men and Casa Cecilia for women), and an outpatient program for teens. Their detox and residential programs are funded through Riverside County Medi-Cal, with admission referrals handled through the county’s substance use access line.

In the 60-day residential homes, licensed therapists and addiction specialists build individualized plans that combine individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, education, NA and AA meetings, and aftercare planning. Families can join educational sessions and evidence-based parenting classes focused on discipline and communication, and the homes have long worked with Riverside County courts to provide alternative sentencing options. The adolescent program runs one to six months with 9 to 10 contacts per week, starting with a thorough assessment of school, home, social, and family life before moving into education on emotions, communication, and coping skills, family counseling, and a teen-driven aftercare component. A medical director consults on adolescent cases, and teens are referred to outside providers when medication or further diagnostic evaluation is needed.
