About Rincon Family Services
Rincon Family Services is a nonprofit community behavioral health agency in Chicago, operating more than 16 locations across the city and surrounding areas. They trace their roots to 1972, when Puerto Rican community organizer Rafael “Paloma” Rios helped found a clinic called El Rincon, and they took their current name in 2011 to reflect a belief that addiction affects the whole family. Their work spans substance use and recovery support, mental health counseling, case management, prevention, and family services for adults, teens, and children. They emphasize culturally responsive, individualized care for people of every background.
Their substance use services pair evidence-based treatment with peer encouragement, and care plans are shaped around each person’s needs, history, and goals. Families are kept informed and involved, and the team of licensed therapists, certified counselors, social workers, and youth specialists also supports parents, with bilingual staff available. Through The Living Room, they offer a free walk-in space where anyone can find peer support without needing an ID or paying a fee, and their Youth Service Project division adds mentoring and prevention programs for young people. They have held CARF accreditation every year since 2009 and accept Medicaid, Medicaid managed care plans, and Medicare.
