About Right Choice of Orange County
Right Choice of Orange County is the Orange, Texas outpatient clinic of the Recovery Council of Southeast Texas, a nonprofit that has offered alcohol and drug treatment in the region since 1958. They serve adults, women, adolescents, and veterans, and they also provide drug screening and testing. Walk-in clients can usually see a counselor the same day, and scheduled appointments are available on weekdays. Outpatient care runs up to nine hours a week and combines individual counseling, group education, group counseling, and support meetings, either in person or through Zoom.
For adults, the program centers on individual sessions, early recovery skills groups, relapse prevention, and building social support. Health education classes cover tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C, STDs and HIV, overdose prevention and reversal, fetal alcohol syndrome, and tobacco cessation. Teens follow the Cannabis Youth Treatment curriculum, which uses Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy over five to twelve weeks, with sessions once or twice a week, along with parenting sessions, home visits, and case management. For people who need more support, the Recovery Council also runs separate residential programs for men and women and long-term case management for people facing housing, transportation, or medical barriers, including those receiving medication-assisted treatment.
