About Resurge Recovery
Resurge Recovery, also known as Resurge Counseling & Wellness, is an outpatient addiction and mental health practice in Cincinnati, Ohio, that pairs counseling with psychiatric care. They treat all types of substance use disorders, gambling addiction, and co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, and self-harm, using a whole-person approach grounded in harm reduction. Care is offered through a partial hospitalization program (PHP), separate intensive outpatient tracks for substance use and mental health, traditional outpatient therapy, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). They accept commercial insurance and Ohio Medicaid, and they also offer private pay for those who prefer to keep treatment off their insurance records.
PHP meets five days a week, and clients typically step down to IOP, which includes three group sessions and one individual session each week. Therapy draws on CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational enhancement therapy, narrative therapy, Seeking Safety, relapse prevention, 12-step work, and mindfulness, with an LGBTQ-specific group, family and couples counseling, and online sessions also available. The psychiatry team provides MAT for alcohol and opioid addiction and uses genetic testing to guide medication choices, while drug testing can be added to a treatment plan when needed. Case managers help clients find food, housing, and employment, and clients and sober alumni get free use of the on-site fitness center and yoga, along with ongoing aftercare check-ins and alumni events.
