About Region IV MHS

Region IV Mental Health Services is a public community mental health center in northeast Mississippi that has served Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, and Tishomingo Counties since 1972, adding Desoto County in 2010. They support children and adults living with mental illness, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and dementia. Their approach is person-centered and builds on each person’s strengths, with the goal of offering the least restrictive level of care that meets their needs. Addiction care includes outpatient services at each county location and the Region IV Chemical Dependency Complex in Alcorn County, a residential program with room for 24 men and 12 women that offers both primary and secondary alcohol and drug treatment.

Outpatient clients can receive individual, group, and family psychotherapy, along with case management, psychiatric care, and nursing services. For people struggling with opioids, including heroin and prescription painkillers, they provide medication-assisted treatment that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapy. When someone needs more intensive support, they run inpatient crisis stabilization units in Corinth and Batesville and an acute partial hospitalization program in Prentiss County. Fees are set on a sliding scale based on household size and income, Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP are accepted, and no one is turned away because they cannot pay.
