About Region III Chem Dependency
Region III Chem Dependency is the addiction services arm of LIFECORE Health Group, a community mental health center in Tupelo, Mississippi, that was formerly known as Region III Mental Health and serves seven counties in the northeast part of the state. The program began as the Harbor House in 1971 and focuses on community-based alcohol and drug prevention and treatment at an affordable cost. They view substance use disorders as fully treatable and put a strong emphasis on stepping in early, before occasional use progresses into addiction. Care spans a broad range, from outreach, prevention, and outpatient services to primary residential treatment and transitional residential living.
Beyond those core levels of care, they offer substance use assessments, including DUI assessments, along with family services that bring loved ones into the recovery process. People who are dealing with both a mental health condition and a substance use problem can receive co-occurring care, and peer support and recovery support services help people stay on track after formal treatment ends. Because the program sits within a larger behavioral health system staffed by psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, family physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, and licensed therapists, patients can connect with psychiatric, medical, and pharmacy services under the same organization.
