About Recovia
Recovia is an intensive outpatient program in the Phoenix area that treats substance use alongside chronic pain and mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma. Their approach starts from the idea that many people turn to drugs or alcohol to cope with pain, stress, or emotional distress, so they treat the whole person through combined behavioral counseling, physical therapy, and medical care. They work with people struggling with opioids, fentanyl, heroin, alcohol, benzodiazepines, methamphetamine, cannabis, and other stimulants. Medical services include outpatient detox and supervised tapers, and video-based care is available to anyone living in Arizona.
Care begins with a three-hour evaluation with the behavioral, physical therapy, and medical teams, who then build an individual plan. Active care typically runs 2–5 days a week for six weeks, with 3–4 hour days divided into hour-long sessions, followed by an optional supportive phase of about 12 sessions over six months. Behavioral work draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, art therapy, and skill building, while a distinctive nervous-system-focused physical therapy component teaches clients to calm physical stress reactions that can drive cravings. Medication support may include Suboxone, naltrexone, Vivitrol, acamprosate, Antabuse, or Wellbutrin, along with diazepam or clonazepam tapers for benzodiazepines, and they accept most commercial, AHCCCS, Medicare, and workers’ compensation plans.
