About Recovery House of Central Inc.Florida
Recovery House of Central Florida, Inc. is a nonprofit recovery residence in Sanford, Florida, for men working to overcome substance use disorders, often alongside mental health conditions and homelessness. Their roots go back to 1986, when founder John Hagan opened his own home to homeless men struggling with addiction, and their goal remains helping residents become sober, self-sufficient, and spiritually grounded. They take a trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally informed approach, and they serve men regardless of their ability to pay. Care is built around a six-month residential program followed by an optional six-month aftercare phase.
The residential program pairs stable sober housing with addiction education, substance abuse counseling, and mental health services for co-occurring conditions. Residents also receive case management, vocational and job training, and instruction in life and financial management skills, with family reunification included as part of the work. A peer-driven structure asks each man to take responsibility for his own recovery while also supporting the others in the house. Men who reach six months of sobriety can move into the aftercare program, which focuses on relapse prevention, continued support, and settling back into work and community life.
