About Project Free

Project Free is an outpatient addiction treatment program in Trenton, New Jersey, operated by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, a faith-inspired nonprofit that has served Central Jersey since 1913 and welcomes people of any faith, ethnicity, or income. Their addiction recovery services help adults and young people struggling with alcohol and drug dependence, and they pair substance use care with psychiatric treatment and integrated health supports. Levels of care include ambulatory opioid detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), standard outpatient, and intensive outpatient programming, with telehealth available by phone for people who can’t easily come on-site.

The core outpatient program combines individual, group, and family counseling with medication monitoring and case management, while a coed intensive program offers on-site child care and, when needed, transportation to remove common barriers to attending. For pregnant women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, the For My Baby and Me track brings together prenatal, birth, and postpartum medical care, MAT, peer recovery and relapse prevention support, housing assistance, employment help, and child care. Adolescents and young adults ages 13 to 21 can enter a dedicated intensive outpatient and outpatient program, and parents involved with child protective services can receive targeted addiction intervention. Ongoing psychiatric care and therapy are also available for adults managing both mental illness and substance use.
