About Plaza De Nuestra Comunidad

Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad is a Springfield, Oregon, nonprofit serving Latino and immigrant families across Lane County. They were formed when Centro Latino Americano, Downtown Languages, and Huerto de la Familia joined together. Their Recovery Services program offers bilingual, culturally specific outpatient support for youth and adults dealing with substance use disorders, problem gambling, and other addictions, and it draws on more than 30 years of experience. The program focuses on Latinx and immigrant clients but is open to anyone, and the team includes certified substance use disorder counselors, peer support specialists, and recovery mentors with lived experience of recovery.

Group work covers education, counseling, DUI, relapse prevention, gambling, family support, and women’s topics, alongside individual and family sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and aftercare. People with co-occurring mental health conditions can work with bilingual therapists, and medical support includes harm reduction, urine testing, and medication for substance use disorders. They also help with rent, employment, and transportation, which can ease the practical pressures that make recovery harder. Treatment plans build in community connection through recreational outings, gardening, sports, and mutual-help meetings, and family members are welcome at events and can join their own learning and support opportunities.
