About Pilsen Wellness Center Inc

Pilsen Wellness Center is a nonprofit community behavioral health organization with a location in Melrose Park, Illinois, part of a network of sites across Chicago and its western suburbs. Rooted in a federally funded program from 1967 and originally serving the largely Latino neighborhoods of Pilsen and Little Village, they take a holistic, family-centered approach that weighs each person’s culture, language, and immigration experience in treatment. About 80 percent of their staff are bilingual and bicultural, and they accept Medicaid. Alongside mental health counseling and youth services, they provide outpatient substance use care, and the Melrose Park site offers DUI services and adolescent substance use treatment.

Their adolescent program serves teens ages 13 to 17 with individual and group counseling, case management, drug education, coping and relapse prevention skills, toxicology testing, health education on TB, hepatitis, HIV, and STDs, and aftercare planning. The DUI program covers court-mandated counseling at all levels, basic case management, free legal seminars, help with license reinstatement and Secretary of State denial letters, and translation services, with flexible hours and payment plans. Elsewhere in the network, adults with opioid use disorder can receive methadone-assisted recovery with physical exams, lab testing, daily or weekly dosing, and counseling, while a separate outpatient program handles substance use evaluations for court and DCFS cases. Twelve of their programs hold CARF accreditation.
