About Pickaway Area Recovery Services
Pickaway Area Recovery Services (PARS) is a community behavioral health and addiction treatment provider based in Circleville, Ohio, with additional locations serving Fayette and Fairfield Counties. Since 1978 they have treated substance use disorders, gambling disorders, and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. Their continuum of care runs from K-12 prevention work and juvenile outpatient treatment to adult outpatient services, ASAM level 3.5 residential treatment, and staffed recovery housing. They also provide assessments and group therapy inside local jails, along with supervised visitation centers for families involved in custody or child welfare cases.
Each client starts with an individualized assessment based on ASAM criteria, and care draws on the Matrix Model, Living in Balance, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and SAMHSA’s anger management curriculum. Residential clients spend more than 30 hours a week in groups, individual counseling, case management, and peer support, with a focus on early recovery, relapse prevention, life skills, and attending community support meetings. Men stay in a 16-bed home in Circleville, while women stay in a 16-bed home in Washington Court House. After treatment, phase-based sober living houses for men and women help residents build stability as they return to work, school, and community life, and outpatient clients can also access telepsychiatry for mental health needs.
