About Phoenix House of Los Angeles Inc

Phoenix House of Los Angeles is part of Phoenix Houses of California, a nonprofit that has offered substance use and mental health care across Southern California since 1979, with their main campus in Lake View Terrace near Sylmar. They believe recovery should be within reach for everyone and work to ease common barriers like cost, insurance, and stigma. At this campus, they provide outpatient substance use treatment for adult men and women and for youth, along with youth mental health services, Wraparound Services, and recovery incentives. Adults can choose traditional outpatient care or intensive outpatient treatment, and those who need detox or residential care can be connected to other sites in the organization’s network.

Outpatient care is built around an individualized plan and lets clients keep up with work, school, and family while they get help. Sessions combine individual and group counseling, substance use education, relapse prevention groups, and recovery skills work, along with case management and referrals for medical care, job readiness, and parenting support. They also use Contingency Management, which rewards progress in recovery, and evidence-based approaches such as Seeking Safety, Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse, Trauma-Focused CBT, and the Strengthening Families Program, which is especially relevant for young people and their families. The organization is CARF accredited, licensed by California’s Department of Health Care Services, and certified for Drug Medi-Cal.
